The 14th Annual TT Group Five-a-Side Football Tournament took place at Goals Birmingham on Thursday 14 May, bringing together 11 teams for a competitive and entertaining day of football, and networking.
The tournament welcomed a mix of returning teams and first-time participants. Throughout the day, teams competed across both Cup and Plate competitions in front of colleagues, guests and supporters.
After a series of closely contested matches, Harris Lamb were crowned Cup Champions for the first time following a narrow 2–1 victory over TT Group’s ‘Heebie GB’s’ in the final. In the Plate competition, ‘CTRL ALT Elite’ defeated ‘Kiss My Pass’ 4–2 in an entertaining final.
Individual performances were also recognised during the presentation ceremony. Betsy Rowett of Allsop received the Lewis Keogh Trophy for Best Female Player of the tournament, while Dominic Wilson of Harris Lamb was named Best Male Player.
This year’s special guest was former England and Liverpool footballer John Barnes, who spent time watching the latter stages of the tournament before presenting medals and trophies to the winners and runners-up. He also shared stories from his playing career and entertained guests with a rendition of the famous rap from “World In Motion”.
This year’s tournament also marked the final event hosted by Mark Kelly ahead of his retirement. Mark has hosted the tournament since TT Group’s first internal event back in March 2011 and has played a huge role in helping the competition grow into the well-supported and enjoyable annual event it is today. His enthusiasm, commitment and contribution over the past 15 years have been greatly appreciated by everyone involved, and he leaves with the thanks and best wishes of colleagues, clients and participants alike.
Thanks to everyone involved in supporting the tournament, as well as all teams who took part and contributed to another successful year.
