The 2025 TT Group Five-a-Side Football Tournament took place on Thursday 8th May at Goals Birmingham, where 17 teams competed with enthusiasm and determination to be crowned this year’s champions. With past tournament giants BT and Bray Fox—who have shared around six titles between them—unable to attend this year, the field was wide open, adding an extra layer of excitement to the day.
It was great to see so many familiar teams returning, and equally enjoyable to welcome Birketts as first-time participants.
In the Plate Final, TT’s own, Control Alt Elite, delivered an outstanding performance against Farebrother / USP, securing a convincing 5–0 victory and taking home the Plate. The main Cup Final featured two relatively new teams—Newsteer and Consil—both of whom joined the tournament for the first time last year. After a tense and tightly contested match, Newsteer emerged victorious with a 2–0 win. For Consil, this marked their second consecutive runner-up finish, and perhaps next year will finally be their time to lift the Cup.
Individual achievements were also recognised, with Lauren Peach of Birketts receiving the Lewis Keogh Trophy for Best Female Player, while Ian Smith of Consil was awarded Best Male Player for his standout performances throughout the tournament.
This year’s special guest was former professional player and manager Martin O’Neill, who arrived early to watch the knockout rounds and finals, showing genuine interest in the teams and matches.
Following the medal and trophy presentations, Martin shared stories from his illustrious career and took questions from the audience, making it a memorable experience for all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us.
