What you’ll be doing
You will be a Business Analyst in a small internal system development team within the Information Systems (IS) department of TT Group delivering a range of internal and external IS-lead transformation projects. The candidate must:
• Have a solid and demonstrable background in business analysis and management of small to medium projects
• Lead business analysis activities on specific projects
• Proactively identify opportunities for business value creation through the appropriate use of information and communications technology
Across the team, all members need to have the ability to move quickly, make mistakes, learn, grow and be part of a team that provides the best solutions our business needs. Each individual should not be afraid to take on roles outside of their comfort zone to support the team. A ‘can-do’ attitude is key as well as positive collaboration across the team to solve problems as they arise, and to anticipate potential problems and build solutions to avoid them.
What we need from you
To gather and understand the business and technology needs of specific projects and change initiatives, working with the wider project team to ensure deliverables are completed in line with the agreed timescales.
To work collaboratively with project teams and drive forward systems change initiatives, assist in the selection of business and technology solutions, and demonstrate how these will deliver benefits and resolve the issues identified through comprehensive business case development.
To produce deliverables which can be tailored to different audiences within the business and, if they are technical outputs, be easy to understand.
To lead analysis activities using structured methodology to understand business systems, applications, processes and data flows through the use of interviews, document reviews, workshops, business process mapping (Intermediate and final 'To Be') and management information analysis, in order to ensure a detailed understanding is developed, shared and documented of the anticipated systems solutions, delivery work packages, risks and issues.
Role and Responsibilities
• Ensure that business technology and systems architecture requirements are fully surfaced, analysed and documented, engaging with the IS team, subject matter experts and other stakeholders in the review of current systems, integrations, business processes and data sources
• Evolve and validate the proposed solution, where appropriate recommending the use of software applications and technology tools to improve business operations (including potential cost savings), also identifying systems and data stores that could be retired from use. This may on occasion necessitate discussing requirements with potential suppliers, so demonstrable experience in this area would be of benefit
• Contribute to developing solution business cases in conjunction with the project team, helping to demonstrate how proposed systems changes will deliver benefits
• Mediate between subject matter experts and applications developers, acting as a link between business challenges and technology solutions to ensure the solution implemented will deliver the required business benefits
• Run workshops, and any other required contact sessions to gather and document requirements and priorities, including the writing of User Stories for the development team
• Determine how requirements will be met, i.e. what actual functionality is required
• Liaise with the technical team to validate the technical solution to meet functional requirements
• Own requirements throughout the build phase
• Be involved in sign-off at key stage reviews
• Manage UAT with the business
• Be able to manage small to medium sized IS projects from start-up through to post implementation using established project management techniques
What skills you’ll bring to us
• An understanding the importance of data and how data solutions can be implemented, at a high-level
• Knowledge in the use of building and integrating digital workflows between enterprise applications; ability to map systems and data flows to produce strong and clear recommendations and documentation
• Knowledge and practical exposure to systems design, agile product development, testing, implementation, change management and training
• Significant and demonstrable knowledge of analyst frameworks, business process modelling and business requirements methodologies
• Aptitude for critical thinking and problem solving in tackling complex challenges
• A creative approach to change initiatives, with the ability to help shape new projects
Experience
• Professional Systems Analysis or Business Analysis qualification, such as the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis
• 5+ years’ experience in a Business Analyst role with a proven track record of success in delivering systems implementation and process change projects
• Working experience of project and analysis techniques and supporting tools for requirement definition and documentation
• Experience working with software development teams, bespoke applications and enterprise systems
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft productivity tools particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
• Excellent knowledge of Agile system development tools, particularly Azure DevOps
