General Information

The Evesham Hotel is a 3 star hotel in the market garden town of Evesham, Worcestershire. The perfect base for exploring the picturesque Cotswolds and Malverns, Evesham Hotel offers 40 spotless and well equipped bedrooms and is surrounded by a tranquil 2 & 1/2 acre garden. Although the Evesham Hotel has all modern comforts including free Wi-Fi internet and an indoor swimming pool, the building dates to 1540 and has a Georgian appearance due to a major modernisation in 1810.

The Evesham Hotel has a very relaxed and informal atmosphere and is not somewhere you will forget in a hurry - reflected in the many awards it has received in recent years; including being listed in the Daily Telegraph as one of the 10 best hotels in the British Isles and in the Independent & Observer as one of the top 50 in Britain.

The Evesham Hotel is as relaxing and memorable for the leisurely tourist as it is for the hard-working executive, and we have facilities to cater for all - super food, 600 bottle wine list, the widest range of alcoholic drinks in UK, indoor swimming pool and a small conference room.

Bedrooms

All of our bedrooms are spotlessly clean and feature either a bath, shower or both, colour television with freeview channels; central heating with thermostat; kettle with tea (India/China) & coffee, hot chocolate & biscuits; portable transistor radio, travel alarm clock; hair drier; iron & ironing board; games (eg. Scrabble), direct-dial phones and all bedrooms also have a silent fridge with fresh milk.

All rooms also offer free Wi-Fi Internet access (not for heavy usage please!) and are non-smoking.

There is a shoe cleaning machine near Reception and please ask there is you would like any services such as laundry, taxi, writing paper etc.

Food & Drink

The hallmark of a good restaurant is variety and you should not be limited to 4 or 5 choices. At the Evesham Hotel you will find plenty of choice including vegetarian options and a junior à la carte menu which is available at lunch, dinner or high tea - well-behaved children are always as welcome as well-behaved adults in the dining room!

At breakfast (served 7.30am - 9.30am on weekdays and 8.00am - 10.00am on weekends), we offer the full choice of a traditional English breakfast down to black pudding and kippers.

At lunchtime we offer exactly the choices as in the evening, 7 days a week, but in addition we offer our superb "Buffet Lunch", an array of 40+ different dishes which is an outstanding value for money (£9.75).

Everything is fresh and prepared on the premises, and dinner (7.00pm - 9.30pm) see's the addition of an à la carte menu which changes every week, complimented by a huge collection of wines.

Our uniquely presented photographic wine list offers wine from such diverse areas as Georgia, Sweden, Utah, Algeria as well as the more normal Holland, India, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand and Italy. We are unique in not selling the usual French & German wines, and for something even more different we sell over 150 different grape varietals so that if you are fed up with Cabernet, Shiraz, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, you could try Tinta Barroca, Alicante Bouschet, Coda di Volpe or Sauvignon Gris etc.

Conference Rooms

For something a bit different from your usual business hotel, the Evesham Hotel offers a relaxing and convenient experience compared with the chain hotels, yet offers all the usual facilities needed for business. We have recently installed free Wi-Fi internet access throughout all rooms and also offer the normal video facilities. Our meeting room is ideal for all kinds of intimate meetings and conferences in Evesham - we do not cater for parties over 10/12 as it disrupts the more individual relaxed atmosphere we try to create.

Excellent food and friendly service. We stayed in the tropical room and enjoyed watching the fish swim around while lying in the bath. Staff are very friendly and efficient and always have time for a chat. Ideal place for a fun break with lots of laughter around the place. Thorougly endorse the policy regarding mobile phones; why anyone thinks it's normal behaviour to use a mobile whilst in a restaurant is beyond me, especially the middle aged lady filming her husband on her Blackberry at breakfast on Sunday morning. There really are some sad people around.

I am ashamed to admit that I didn't know the "teddy bear" connection with the hotel, but within a few minutes you are under it's spell. My stay felt more like a weekend at a friend's home. I loved everything - the hotel - the staff and the area, and, as Mike Brudenell is a regular visitor I'm sure I will be back. Thank you all for a wonderful weekend. Jenny Masters.

My husband stayed at the hotel while on business over twenty years ago. My daughter remembered his stories about it when she was twelve and twenty years later was delighted to be able to stay there herself when she was on business in the area. At last I was able to visit myself when my husband and I took a post retirement short break. I wasn't to be disappointed. We had a wonderful stay. Every single one of the staff members was pleasant, helpful and if I had to guess would say that they each enjoyed their jobs very much, which is quite a statement in its self these days. The food was wonderful and our room delightful. So comfortable and homely. No expense spared on the little extras which make a stay away from home even more enjoyable. The teddy bear theme is wonderful and the family run business obviously takes great pride in supporting the local community and businesses wherever it can. Congratulations on not "selling your soul" to the empire builders out there. In my book Teddy rules OK! We have promised ourselves a return visit but I can promise you we wont be waiting another twenty years!

Responsive and friendly staff, lots of games to play and borrow in our room while the children were sleeping, excellent book collection, my son is now hooked on "The Beano"...and the pool was the perfect temperature, perfect depth and had all the right toys to play with. Would highly recommend. Local "Pub walk" From Laverton to the "Mount Inn" in Stanton was amazing. We were followed around with some very friendly horses for the last stretch!

This is a delightfully quirky hotel, in which you can spend hours just browsing through the odd collection of paraphernalia - from the mad to the useful - that the owner (John Jenkinson) has amassed. John, incidentally, is as quirky as his bric-a-brac. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the river, as well as most pubs, restaurants and shops in Evesham. It also has free parking. The room I stayed in was recently nicely redecorated, but retained a quaint charm. If you're travelling with kids, you'll find dozens of traditional games and hundreds of books. There is also a large lawn for outdoor games and a delightfully decorated swimming pool. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Just take the owner with a pinch of salt and you'll be OK!

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times (each time in one of the 'themed' rooms). The flair shown in the design of the rooms matches the care and courtesy extended by the long-serving local staff. We choose this place because, even when our weather is at its most English (and over the Jubilee weekend it most certainly was), there is plenty to enjoy even if you stay in. With locally sourced, great-tasting food and a wide selection of interesting wines from which to choose, we find it pointless to bother finding anywhere else to go for a weekend away. John's sense of humour sometimes backfires but it is always well meant and driven by a wish to make folk relax and unwind to enjoy their stay. We'll be back again.

I have stayed at the hotel a number of times now. It is quirky and individual with some of the rooms being 'themed'. It is certainly very different, especially if you're fed up with hotel chains which have no character at all. The standard of food is very good and the whole experience is good value for money. The owner may not be everyone's cup of tea as he is a bit if a card; dressing up at times and making comments which might not be to everyone's liking. All in all though, it is close to many Cotswold attractions and is well worth a visit.

Nothing is too much trouble here. Happy smiling and helpful staff. Everything from proper coffee and fresh milk in your room to a wonderful breakfast served on a hot plate (other places should take note) goes to show that every detail has been thought of. This is the place that invented a 'Can do' attitude towards its guests - the big chains could learn a lot from the Evesham. Faultless, as ever.

Arrived early - before midday - and was allowed access to room. Rooms seemed to be themed, we were given the jockey's room adorned with lots of artifacts relating to horse racing - jockeys silks, racing saddle, programmes etc. There were also some board games in the room. Room was comfortable and warm. Hotel seemed to be very child friendly with pool, all sorts of games and large selection of reading material Good breakfast provided with excellent range of cereals and wide choice for the cooked english. They made their own jams and marmalades

I am a very well travelled person who has stayed in hotels worldwide and I was very impressed with the room facilities in this hotel. The fridge in the room is a godsend with a toddler who needs milk before bed and wakes up at 6am. The rooms were very spacious, so my daughter had room to play. Having books, teddies, bath toys, her own towels, etc was fantastic. I was impressed to see the things provided for babies, baby bath, even some nappies, talc, cotton wool, changing mat etc. Our daughter loved all the toys downstairs. The pool was fantastic and all the pool toys. A fantastic place to stay with children. Breakfast was excellent too. Only one minor criticism which was there are a few signs around the hotel that have tone e.g. in our room, photos of how a family had left the room and the sign said please don't emulate them. I can understand it with the effort this hotel puts in to looking after guests, but it didn't feel very welcoming.

Stayed at The Evesham a few times on business but this was the first leisure visit.
The place has a fantastic relaxed atmosphere and all the staff give the the overwhelming impression that nothing is too much trouble.

    Overall - A first-rate experience!
Really liked: the overall quirky theme of the place - lovely atmosphere - and there's plenty of things with which to amuse oneself if the weather's inclement - the jar of Nescafe Gold Blend in the room was a very nice touch - my stay was for four nights so I got to sample the bar and restaurant every evening - excellent......liked the menu variations....breaks the monotony - free WiFi is an excellent idea....many hotels charge 15-19 pounds per day for this service (and it often isn't very reliable)....see further comments below.
Nit-picks: The WiFi (although free) kept dropping out (frustrating for a business user and not sure if it is by design or by signal strength) and seemed to be buggy when trying to attempt to re-establish a connection.
