kosice tourist information

Kosice is located in the east of Slovakia. The city lies at the river Hornád near the Slovak Ore Mountains. Korsice has a population of around 240,000, which makes it Slovakia's second largest city after its capital, Bratislava.
 
Kosice offers beautiful surroundings and has a well preserved historical centre. The highlights of this centre being the Cathedral of St. Elisabeth, Jakab Palace and The Dominican Church.
 
Košice was chosen as one of two cities to hold the European Capital of Culture title in 2013.

Must See and Do Tourist Attractions in Kosice

Andrassy Palace, Kosice: Andrassy Palace was developed by Vojtech Czigler, a professor at the University of Budapest. It is a richly decorated three-story building built in 1899 in Neo-Baroque style.
 
The Immaculata, Kosice: The Immaculata is a 14 metre high Baroque plague column with a sculpture of Virgin Mary on the top.  
 
Forgach Palace, Kosice: The Forgach Palace was built in the early 19th Century and is now home to the State Science Library. Levoca House is the oldest known inn in Kosice. It has been the property of the archbishop of Ostrihom and palatine Alexander Thurzo.
