Tourism in the local area

The Crieff Visitor Centre brings together two of Scotland oldest and most fascinating skilled craft industries. Under one roof you can view and experience the making of traditional whisky flagons and tableware at Buchans Pottery and collectable glass paperweights at Perthshire Paperweights. The centre is complete with its own 180 seater licensed restaurant, factory shop, continuous video display, garden centre and children's play area. The centre also has a retail showroom. St Andrews, the spiritual home of the great game is within easy travelling distance of the hotel, as are some of the finest golf courses in the world. Names such as Carnoustie, Gleneagles, Muirfield, Gullane and Dunbar. The Salutation Hotel is ideally situated for you to take advantage of these historic courses.

Blair Athol, in the highland town near Pitiochry, is a visit to one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. Here you can see the distiller's utilizing the most valuable of local resources, the crystal clear waters of the Alit Dour, the burn of the Otter. Glamis Castle is the family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne and has been a royal residence since 1372. One is the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, the birthplace of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret and the legendary setting of Shakespeare's play "Macbeth". Though the Castle is open to visitors it remains a family home, lived in and loved by the Strathmore family.

The Caithness Glass Visitor Centre offers one of the biggest selections of modern and traditional glassware. Extensive selections of giftware and stemware in glass and crystal. Superb choice of unlimited and limited edition paperweights. Also, there are excellent selections of other great gift ideas to choose from.The National Heather Centre, the UK's largest collection of heathers, is designed to provide a rich mix of colour throughout the year, to delight both horticulturists and casual admirers. There are now over 900 carefully nurtured varieties from all over the heather growing world and the centre enjoys an important conservationist role as well as being a unique showcase for visitors incorporating a children's play area, putting green and aviary.

Noah's Ark Playbarn is a specially equipped children's soft play barn for under 12's. There are 3 separate areas, up to 3 years, under 5 year olds and the 5 - 12's to ensure the safety of the younger children. For older children and adults you can enjoy racing on our indoor karting track.
