Location. The Royal Lodge is located in the Wye Valley, Herefordshire, England, on the edge of the Forest of Dean. It is 900 metres from Symonds Yat Rock view point, and six miles from Ross on Wye. Hotel Features. Built in 1876 as a royal hunting lodge, the building was converted into a hotel in the 1920s. It sits in a five acre site with terraced gardens, overlooking the River Wye. There is a family lounge with an open fire in winter and a bar, and the entire property is smoke free. Complimentary wireless Internet is available throughout the public areas. Parking is complimentary for hotel guests. The Royal Lodge provides a complimentary continental breakfast. There is a café bar open for lunch and dinner, and a restaurant which serves evening meals. Both use local produce and have extensive wine lists. The Wyedean Canoe and Adventure Centre is 100 metres from the hotel. A wide range of leisure activities are available including climbing, abseiling, canoeing, golf, horse riding, and caving. There are cycling paths, a high ropes course, and a sculpture trail in the Forest of Dean. The hotel also organises outdoor team building activities, and helicopter tours and lessons. Guestrooms. The 21 guestrooms are simply decorated with cotton bedding, and have complimentary Internet access, complimentary bottled water, and direct dial phones. Bathrooms include hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. Most rooms have river views and some have four poster beds. Expert Tip.
