The Powder Mills is a stunning 18th century listed country house hotel nestling in 150 acres of park and woodlands, situated just outside the historic town of Battle, next to the historic battlefield of 1066. The hotel has been richly furnished with antiques chosen from the many local antique shops. The log fire creates a cosy atmosphere in the Entrance Hall and the Bar, Drawing Room and the Large Music Room are typical for a Georgian Country House.
The hotel is set on the site of a gunpowder works which is said to have provided the finest gunpowder in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars. The surrounding area invites guests to take a walk and enjoy the beautiful tranquil woodland trails. A 7-acre lake can be used for fishing and wild geese, swans, ducks, kingfishers and herons can be found there as well.
Country sports are very popular at the Powder Mills Hotel. Use your stay to practise your skills in clay pigeon shooting, fishing, archery and other activities.
The Powder Mills Hotel is the perfect place for conferences and banquets. It is currently building a banqueting suite, which will be completed by April 2012 and accommodate up to 150 people.
Restaurant
The Orangery Restaurant at the Powder Mills Hotel is open to non-residents as well as for guests, which is why booking a table is always advisable. The beautiful venue boasts marble floor, Greek statues and huge windows which provide a wonderful sight on to the swimming pool and the terrace.
The library and conservatory serve snacks created by the Orangery team as well.
