Old Government House Hotel & Spa

The Old Government House Hotel & Spa - the longest established and most historically famous hotel in the Channel Islands - dating back to 1858 and formerly the official residence of the Queen's representative to the Bailiwick of Guernsey - The Lt. Governor.

Today, "The OGH" (as it is affectionately known) retains many of the features from that bygone era although "she" has been sympathetically and lovingly restored to encompass every modern facility that you would expect in a luxury international resort hotel.

Our cuisine, under the direction of French chef Jerome Barbançon, is now some of the finest on the Island and he has been initially awarded 2 AA Rosettes whilst the hotel has also been re-graded by the AA to 4 Star 78% - the highest rating in Guernsey. We have also been re-awarded (for the third successive year) the only VisitBritain Gold Award for service and hospitality on the Island.

King Rooms
King rooms are designed to the highest standard using rich fabrics and have a classical ambiance. A King room consists of a king size bed (that could be made into twin beds), two easy chairs, writing / dressing table and up-lighter. Many of the King rooms have seaviews and a balcony (a small supplement will be charged).

Queen Rooms
These rooms consists of a queen sized bed with many of the rooms overlooking the walled garden and outdoor swimming pool. All rooms have a partial seaview.

Single
These rooms consist of a double bed for single occupancy, table and relaxing chair.

One Room Suites
Our two one room suites are individually styled to suit their location. One offers fantastic views over St Peter Port harbour and the neighbouring islands and a balcony, whilst the other overlooks the hotel gardens with the town and harbour as a backdrop. They both offer spacious rooms with large lounge areas and the extras expected of our best rooms.

The king size bed can be converted to twin beds if necessary and the sofa can be converted into an extra bed for a child allowing for a spacious family suite.

Master King
Tastefully decorated and offering a large amount of floor space, these large King rooms consist of a king size bed that can become twin beds and a lounge area that can comfortably seat a family of four. The sofa can be converted into a extra bed for a child if necessary.

Accessibility bedrooms

:- King Rooms, The King or Twin Room (with sea view and balcony) is equipped with a door entry bath and shower, grab rails, separate shower and a low washbasin and lavatory. Wheelchair users need to be able to stand to transfer.

Queen Rooms

One double Queen Room is equipped with a low bath, mechanised bath chair and lavatory with support rail. The other has a ramped Owheel-in¹ shower fitted with a small seat. The surface of the beds is 68cm above the floor. The telephone is 40cm from the bed. Light switches and door handles are 120cm above the floor and the dressing table base is 70cm above it.

We are justifiably proud of our cuisine - a pride that is reflected in the award of AA 2 Rosettes and a Gold Award by VisitGuernsey.

Our two distinctive restaurants - the intimate Governors fine-dining restaurant or the more informal French style Brasserie are popular venues for both residents and Islanders alike. Our French Chef de Cuisine, Jerome Barbançon, prepares each dish using the freshest of local and Continental ingredients - treating guests to world-class dining.
