Feversham Lodge was converted from a 19th Century Methodist Manse to a Guest House in 1980.
We bought the property in June 2004 and have embarked upon a significant re-vamp of the public areas and bedrooms. This has resulted in our being awarded 4 diamond status by the English Tourism Council and York Tourism Bureau Guest House of the Year 2006/07.
We have in keeping with the age of the house aimed at recreating the age of gracious living reminiscent of the Victorian era.
The Dining Room with its original Victorian ceiling rose and Italian marble fireplace is a particular feature of our home.
The room is tastefully furnished with period pieces, whilst original artworks and Royal Doulton dinnerware enhance the ambience.
Bedrooms
All bedrooms are en-suite and colour television with integrated DVD, radio alarm clocks, CD players, hair-dryers, luxury toiletries by Montague and Lloyd and courtesy trays are standard.
Further personal touches include free DVD library, use of guest computer and free wifi (wireless internet connectivity), publications and books of local and national interest and tourist information folders.
Mpumalanga Bedroom
Our Mpumalanga (where the sun rises) Room has been tastefully decorated to reflect the colours of Africa. Dark wood furniture, African artefacts and prints by well known South African artist Peter Bonney enhance the “out of Africa” theme.
Normandie Bedroom
This room has been completely redecorated on a Le Chateau theme. With cotton Toile du Jouy bed linen and Renoir prints the feel is of French elegance.
Bethel Bedroom
This room which can be configured as either a twin or super king reflects our attempt to recreate the autumnal colours of one of our favourite places. Bed linen, easy chairs and paintings all combine to reflect the “season of mellow fruitfulness”.
Victorian Bedroom
Our Victorian Room recreates that sense of gracious living of a bygone era. A brass bed topped with a voile crown, damask bed linen and curtains and an antique Victorian wardrobe combine to create the ambience. Look for the hickory shafted golf clubs – “left perhaps by a nineteenth century visitor”?
Guinevere Bedroom
Step back to the age of chivalry; the age of gentility; with this romantically decorated room. Burgundy taffeta and gold organza soft furnishings enhance our four poster bed whilst the antique bedroom chairs add to the ambience.
