Cheval Roc Hotel, Jersey

The Cheval Roc Hotel, sister hotel to the Stafford Hotel and licensed for 89 guests, is a two sun graded hotel, enjoying a sentinel position above the cliffs on Jersey’s picturesque north coast, overlooking the beautiful bay and fishing harbour of Bonne Nuit. From our commanding position, the hotel enjoys breathtaking sea views stretching from Normandy to Sark with a backdrop of bracken and heather clad hills, and provides the ideal location for those who are simply seeking a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

We understand that good food is a vital component to any enjoyable holiday, which is why we pride ourselves on using only the finest ingredients in the preparation of our meals. Traditional English cuisine figures principally on our menus, but with sufficient variety in the dishes to remind you that you are after all outside the UK. Special dietary requirements - diabetic, gluten and vegetarian can also be accommodated.

Although safe sea bathing can be enjoyed on the beach below, our heated outdoor swimming pool and sun patio is an ideal place to unwind while enjoying the surrounding scenery. Our spacious lounge and stylish bar are the ideal places for relaxing after dinner or after a busy day sightseeing around our beautiful island. A varied entertainment program can also be enjoyed during the high season.

We are conscious of the need to provide the kind of amenities which will satisfy the demands of the modern day tourist. With this in mind, all of the bedrooms in our hotel have en suite facilities and are equipped with a colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, direct dial telephones, central heating and a baby listening service. A number of ground floor rooms are available in addition to 4 interconnecting rooms. For an extra charge guests can upgrade their room to a sea view room at an additional charge per person per night, or to a poolside room with direct patio access for only an additional £5.00 per person per night.

Despite our apparently remote location, the hotel is only a short 15 minute drive away from the shopping prescient of St. Helier, where VAT free goods can be purchased, and is the ideal base for those who wish to explore the rest of the island. There is a large car park for residents of our hotel plus the local bus service passes the hotel up to 6 times a day during the high season.

The peaceful location of our hotel proves a spectacular vantage point for discovering the dramatic and wild environment of Jersey’s North coast. For those who enjoy walking, 15 miles of coastal footpaths stretch out before you, threading their way through the heather, fern and gorse covered hills. If you stand high above the cobalt sea you will be able to take in the stunning views of the French coast and the neighbouring Channel Islands or unravel centuries of Jersey’s unique and vivid past. Stumble upon prehistoric burial chambers, explore ancient fortresses and the Napoleonic defences of Grève de Lecq or educate the younger members of your family with a journey into the past. Wild daffodil, thrift, horse-shoe vetch and sea campion can be found in February to April. In the summer months, Foxglove, birds foot trefoil, tormentil, autumn squill, wild golden rod and sand crocus can also be seen in abundance. In autumn this changes once again to betony, bell heather and saw wort. In the winter, yellow gorse can be seen. In addition to wild plant life, various species of birds also choose the cliffs and headlands as their home. These include the puffin, razorbill, fulmar, petrel and common tern in the summer and redstart, yellow wagtail, hoopoe and wheatear in the autumn.
